JumpStart School & Sports Photography 2011

sports photo labMany thanks to the fantastic speakers Jeff Edwards, Scholastic Reflections; Frank Harrison, Gump Sports Photography; John Pittman, JohnPittman.com and Jim Seers, H&H Color Lab Sports Photography Consultant who brought so much knowledge, excitement and inspiration to the November JumpStart Schools & Sports sessions held in California.

ClearBags, Graphic Authority, Marathon Press, Neil Enterprises, ViewFinder Mask, H&H Color Lab, and various speakers teamed up to host this year’s Jumpstart School and Sports training. The event was a success, showing professional photographers how to expand their business through sports and school photography in their communities.

During breaks in the programming, attendees shared how glad they were to attend an event such as this, and could see how the knowledge gained would propel their business onward and upward. According to CJ Wilson, owner of sonlight expressions, it was serendipitous that a friend encouraged attendance; “An industry friend encouraged me to attend the H&H Jumpstart session, and I am so glad I did! The event was just what I needed to take my business to the next level.”

David Dessler, owner of In His Image Photography, echoed Wilson’s sentiments, “As an experienced sports photographer I found the Jump Start Sports session very informative. There were many details that were incorporated into the session that I could take back to the studio to market and enhance the products that I offer. Also, I was informed of many products that I could use to make me stand out from my competition and ultimately profit my bottom line.”

For many attendees, the insight they gained about product differentiation was key. “For me, the day on Sports was my primary reason for attending, with tips as simple as “Don’t include more than 4 wallets in your packages but offer a set of 12 for $10 with package purchase” says CJ Wilson. “The day on Schools was even more valuable than I had anticipated and will help me establish school portrait business. My most pleasant surprise was the wealth of support available from H& H Color Lab and bet I have already begun to do business with them!”
