Kansas City’s professional photographers are in for a treat this Friday (March 16th), as renowned Photographer Greg Gorman will be giving a presentation at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
Known for his unique photography style, Greg has photographed numerous A-list celebrities and has become a master of the art of photography.
Greg was born in Kansas City in 1949, and attended Pembroke and Shawnee Mission East High School. After High School, Greg went to the University of Kansas where he majored in photojournalism. He then studied at USC, graduating in 1972 with a Master of Fine Arts degree.
From there, Greg has worked his way to become a top photographer in Hollywood, completing photo shoots with Johnny Depp, Al Pacino, David Bowie and Michael Jackson, to name a few. Beyond celebrity photo shoots, Greg also excels in photography for magazines, advertisements, as well as portrait sand fine art. You can view Greg’s portfolio on his website.
The presentation, which takes place in Atkins Theater (Museum Map), will cover the many phases of his career, including the transition from film to digital, celebrities to black and white, and portraits to street photography. It’s not to be missed!
The event is free to the public (Museum parking is $5 for non-members), but registration is required.

As you probably know, TIME is MONEY, and in these times that we live in, the faster you can do something, or the less time it takes you, means you can spend more time either MARKETING, PHOTOGRAPHING, or just spending that time with your family.
So, since some have said that I have one of, if not THE fastest and most efficient workflows on the planet, I’ve decided to share this with YOU!
For years and years, I have been an exclusive PC/Windows user. Well, recently, during a class that I was teaching, I asked how many were PC users vs. how many were MAC users; AND for the first time ever, the majority of the room was MAC!
I decided, right then and there, that it was time that I learned to use a MAC. Also, as a teacher, it’s SMART for me to use a MAC because it can show both Windows and MAC operating systems. So with a MAC I can actually be more productive to more photographers.

Whether it’s a smartphone or a tablet, more and more people are shifting away from using desktops and home-based systems towards using mobile devices to access the Web. With so many new, innovative ways to reach and interact with potential customers, mobile marketing is becoming an increasingly vital way for photography businesses to thrive in a constantly changing landscape. Professional photographers, as with any commercial enterprise, stand to benefit greatly from integrating effective mobile marketing strategies.
According to a report from mobiThinking, there are approximately 1.2 billion mobile Web users, accounting for nearly 10% of global Website hits. Trends indicate that internet users prefer to use mobile devices when seeking local information, such as finding restaurants or events, while their use in social networking and other services is on the rise.
Many businesses are eager to incorporate mobile marketing, but are at a loss on how to do so. HubSpot, one of the leading internet marketing organizations, has pointed out that the third most common Google search query on the subject is “What is mobile marketing?” Let’s consider some of the basic methods for reaching potential customers.
