YUPIQ Your Reward Sharing Promotions!
How Photographers can use Yupiq.com Video Transcript
Hi, everybody. This is Georgia McCabe and this month’s video blog post is about an application that just came out in October called Yupiq, “Y U P I Q.” It’s a reward-sharing site, and what it allows you to do is to set up various promotions, and get your fans to start talking about you. Not only can your fans talk about you, but they can share their promotions and get rewarded when they do that, by passing along either your event that you want them to sign up for, or a coupon, or variety of free giveaways… it’s pretty cool!Basically, the way it works is you go to yupiq.com, and you can sign up for a 30-day free trial, and –- let me enlarge my screen here for a second –- and I’ll show you a couple of examples that they have on their website. You’ll see here “The Great Nordic Race Contest.” This is one where they’re actually promoting an event. And the first 5 people to get 3 friends to accept the invitation to the event will win a free entry to the actual race, and they’ll also get a free bowl of beef stew at the ski lodge.
The next one was a trail mix giveaway that a company did, and they gave away 30 bags of free trail mix. So let your creative minds venture off and think about how you can use this from a photography standpoint. I think it could be absolutely phenomenal for those of you who market to seniors, because we know that a lot of the seniors are very active on Facebook. You could come up with something where you could give away either a discount, or someone could get a free sitting, or perhaps a discount on their package –- just a number of ideas. So, it’s really cool, and very easy to set up.
I’m actually doing one right now, and this took about 5 minutes to set up. It’s my new book, called SocialMorphosis, and what I set up was that you can invite your friends to view a sample of a chapter of SocialMorphosis, which is a book about a photographer’s journey through social media. (She’s afraid at the beginning and then she gets very brave as I teach her through it.) And the first 10 users to get 3 friends to view the chapter win an autographed copy. The way that people can participate is they can Share it on Facebook. If you do that, and you click here, it will bring up friends of the person you’re signed in as (here, I’m my husband). So we could just pick a couple of people here, ask them to do it –- we could select a number, then send the request. That is a message that is sent out on Facebook. You can also Share it on Twitter or you can even do it by just emailing your friend, so you can just put in your email, add in your friend’s email, and give them a little message. So they have a number of ways that you can share this, through Facebook, through Twitter, or through email.
The other cool thing is that it has a really great dashboard. You can see the promotions that you have set up, and all of the analytics that go behind it. You can actually see how many people have shared it, how many people have –- in my case — viewed the chapter, just absolutely terrific! And down here on the control panel is how you can easily set that up. So literally this took… even learning about the software, setting it up… it was a very quick process, less than an hour. I’m pretty excited about it!
Now, the other thing that you can also do is they also give you a widget, so you can put it on your website. In this case, I’ll soon be doing this, either write a blog and incorporate a widget right here, promoting it out, or I could put it in one of my sidebars.
So give it a shout, give it a lookout. It’s called Yupiq.com. Start a free trial, and I’d love to hear how a number of you are using it. As always, if you want to reach me, you can go to either my Facebook, or you can always post a question on the H&H Facebook page, and we’ll be sure to get right back at you. So give it a try!
