Employee Highlight: Mary Kreisel

Mary Kreisel

We are proud of our employees and the pride and care they take producing your orders and want to share their stories with you.

Each month we highlight one of our employees and the department they work in! You will get a look behind-the-scenes here at the lab, and get to know one of our own a little bit better.

Mary Kreisel

No matter how technology has changed over the years, one thing that has not changed is the foundation of our business – great color! The passion for excellence in color has been instilled and led by founder, Wayne Haub. H&H’s industry reputation for excellence in color has stood for over 46 years.

The staff in our Color Call department work hard to make this possible. The 13 department members have a combined 203 years experience at H&H with 182 years specifically in color call! We are very proud of them!!!

Introducing Mary Kreisel, team member with 36 years of H&H color call experience! Mary’s outstanding work ethic and practice of H&H core values is a shining example to all of us.

Mary’s team leader pointed out her excellent attendance record. Mary also has the lowest remakes of anyone in the lab—very high praise!

Q What is it about your job that you love?

A  I feel like the group I work with is like family. There are about 13 of us in our department. We have all been working together for a long time, and know each other well. The people here at H&H are very friendly. I also enjoy what I do, and look forward to coming into work each day.

Q What was your position when you first came to H&H?

A  In 1980, I went to work for the lab. I have been here 36 years! I first worked as a “spotter” doing retouch work on images. That was in the days of film, of course. Wayne (the owner) encouraged me to learn how to color call, and I have been here ever since.

Q How have things changed in the industry since you first started at H&H?

A  When I first started as a “spotter,” I helped our main artist, Cora, with her images. Back then so many of the processes were manual. We had many different steps to each process such as pre-inspection, actual printing and then post-inspection. Everything is so much more streamlined and simpler now. The work is better with our video equipment and the way the newer processes work instead of the previous manual processes.

Q Tell me a little about your hobbies and family?

A.  My husband, Rick, and I have been married for 43 years now. We were high school sweethearts. We have a son, who is 40 years old, a daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters. I enjoy going to my granddaughters’ school and sports events. We also really enjoy going to the Lake of the Ozarks. We like to get out on the boat and fish, and just enjoy our time together. We are looking forward to retiring down in Warsaw, Missouri, eventually. I also love to garden. I spend a little time in my flower garden every day if I can.
