Employee Highlight – Judy Wian
We are proud of our employees and the pride and care they take producing your orders and want to share their stories with you.
Each month we highlight one of our employees and the department they work in! You will get a look behind-the-scenes here at the lab, and get to know one of our own a little bit better.
Twenty-three years ago, Judy Wian started working at H&H Color Lab as a seasonal team member in our evening shipping department. She eventually moved into customer service and has played an important role and valuable asset as a team member in that department. As she retires, we reflect back on all the years of service she has given to H&H and our customers. Throughout those years, she has been a shining example of our core values and making the customer #1 in her daily activities at H&H. Her work ethic, her concern for our customer, her organization and smile will truly be missed…but we are happy that Judy now gets to spend extra time with her family and enjoying her retirement!
Q: How long have you been H&H?
I have been with the company for about twenty-three years, serving in many positions including wrapping large prints, and night shift manager in shipping and customer service.
Q: What is it that you will miss about H&H? I hear that you will be retiring soon!
I will miss the relationships that I have built up with many customers over the years as well as my coworkers.
Q: What is it that you love about your job?
I love what I do. I love working with people, with our customers. I like interacting with the customers very much.
Q: When you leave at the end of the day, what leaves you with a good feeling about what you have done during the day at the lab?
Probably helping a customer resolve an issue. At the end of the day, I know I have done a good job. It has been an awesome opportunity to be educated about the different processes, and to be a little sponge at H&H!
Q: How have things changed over the years here?
So much has changed. One thing that remains the same, is the importance of shipping. That department is so important to the lab. That area has changed a lot. Our products have changed. What we are able to do…everything! Our customers have changed as well.
Q: What did you do prior to coming to H&H?
My experience for about twenty years was in the dental field. So, some of the organizational skills I learned at that job, have helped me at H&H. I also learned patience.
Q: Tell me a little bit about your family and personal life.
I have two children. I am from New Jersey. I have one daughter and her family there. I also have one daughter and her family here in the Kansas City area. My grandchildren include two boys and two girls. Two of them are in college, one is in high school, and one in middle school.
Q: I know you like to follow their sports. Which events do you really enjoy watching?
Baseball for sure! I enjoyed seeing my grandson play with his competitive baseball team in a baseball tournament in Cooperstown.
Q: What do you do for fun-for hobbies?
I like to garden, and I like to read a lot.
