We are proud of our employees and the pride and care they take producing your orders and want to share their stories with you.
Each month we highlight one of our employees and the department they work in! You will get a look behind-the-scenes here at the lab, and get to know one of our own a little bit better.
Cassidy Srock – Photo Specialties Department
One of the most popular departments at H&H is Specialty items. These personalized products range from stone tiles, to ornaments, to jewelry, keychains, USB drives, holders and more. As you will read, it is a fun and fast-paced department with a huge variety of products. H&H is fortunate to have great employees like Cassidy, who loves the environment, demonstrates the flexibility to move from project to project and enjoys the opportunity to contribute ideas. It is employees like Cassidy who make a difference!
Q: What did you do before coming to H&H Color Lab?
A I was the floor manager at a tele fundraising company.
Q: How do you think that experience helps you with your job at the lab?
A It makes me appreciate the culture here in the lab. At my last job, new ideas were ignored or met with hostility. Here at H&H, I feel like my ideas are heard, accepted and welcome. I have had several ideas that have become standard work! It is awesome being appreciated and encouraged to innovate.
Q: What is your team like?
A Photo Specialties is a small team compared to other departments. We are all very different. I think that is a good thing because it adds different perspectives and gives us different experiences to draw from.
Q: What is it that you love about your job?
A I like jobs where I make physical, tangible things-so this job is perfect for me. At the end of the day, I can look back and see what I have created, whether it was jewelry or other specialty items. We create jewelry; do dye sublimation and laser cut products, so there are a huge variety of products to master. In dye sublimation alone, I believe there are 165 products!
Q: What do you think about the lean manufacturing process?
A I really like the idea of constantly improving. It is so much better than just doing the things over and over the same way—the way they have always been done. The world is constantly changing so assuming the way you’ve always done things will continue to work forever is absurd. I actually took the lean process home and used it on my daughter’s bedroom! Things are so much simpler, and easier to find now. We are under less stress, now that her space is well-organized and all “non-value adding” items have been removed. It is much easier to keep clean, and it gives us more time to enjoy our family.
Q: Tell me a little about your family?
A I am married, and have a daughter that is 2¾. We like to go to the zoo and the dog park as often as we can. We have two dogs and two ferrets. They all get along. The female ferret and male dog are actually best friends.
Q: Tell me a little about your hobbies?
A My passion is that I founded and run a group called Shameless – Mental Illness Awareness and Advocacy. It supports people with mental illness. It is a safe place for people to come and share their experiences. One of my big goals with this group is to help people without insurance find ways to afford their medications. We are trying to encourage people to talk about mental illness to end the stigma associated with it. There is also a support group we run with over 1000 members. It is a safe, judgement-free place to talk about personal experiences, vent or ask for help. Our ultimate goal is to be able to financially help people who can’t afford their medication or therapy. I also have a bachelor’s degree in technical theater which I am very proud of.
